The other day I decided to go on twitter and check out a
profile of an ex-friend. One of the things I had read from his tweets was that
Mila Kunis was pregnant. Obviously, he was not happy about it. Reading it made
me think.
I’m just like everyone else, I have crushes on celebrities.
I watch movies to catch glimpses of their possible true selves. Some
celebrities are typecast into certain roles, and they make viewers wonder if
they are really like that in person.
I will give you my favorite example: Zachary Levi. I first
saw him in the show Chuck that used to air on NBC. He played a regular
guy that had regular normal people problems, worked in an electronics store,
and was the epitome of a normal guy with a nerdy edge. But then he was thrown
into a world he had no reason to be a part of, the spy world. He becomes part
of a computerized experiment and ends up getting all the secrets of the US
government inside his head (sorry for the really bad summary).
I see this guy in this show, and I automatically click with
this character. He is just a hopeless romantic that just wants to find his true
love and live happily ever after with her. He is awkward and shy and has a hard
time in some social situations (at least in the beginning of the series). This
character Chuck is just like the guy I would be most attracted to. *SIDE NOTE*
This show is actually where I got my internet name from; on the show, Chuck’s
spy name is Charles Carmichael *SIDE NOTE*
Once I saw the show, I fell in love with the idea of this
guy, this perfect person that is out there somewhere just like Chuck. Maybe
Zachary Levi was that type of guy. So I watched other things with him in it,
and everything I saw just made me think Zachary Levi was this type of guy in
real life!
Shades of Ray-
Actor trying to make it in Hollywood, and losing his fiancée, but getting a
better girlfriend.
Alvin and the
Chipmunks 2- Video game playing loner that has a crush on a girl and can’t
really talk to her.
Tangled- Rogue
that didn’t know what he was missing until he met Rapunzel, and becomes a
prince.
Remember Sunday-
Guy that has memory problems but somehow falls in love anyway.
Hold on readers, bear with me, I have a point, I promise.
So after I read that tweet, I started thinking. I have these
crushes on actors that play roles. I have no idea of they are really like that,
and I never will have an idea because I WILL NEVER MEET THEM! I have no chance
that I am randomly going to walk by a celebrity and they see me and immediately
want to talk to me and have conversations with me! I am deluding myself into
thinking that I have even a tiny shot of being a part of the life of any
actor/actress. And it sucks, yes, but I have to stop kidding myself.
So this is what I have decided. I am quitting the game. I’m
going to stop caring about celebrities and gossip and who is dating who. I’m
not going to care about anything when it comes to Hollywood society. The
members of that class will be just that, people of another class. They will
have no effect on my personality or judgments anymore (not that I was using
them as my basis of morals or anything). So for those who are heartbroken that
Mila Kunis is pregnant, really think about it: how much chance did you have of
ever being her baby daddy?
That’s it for this week. Until next time … I’m Charlotte Carmichael and thanks for reading!
