TATTOOS!
God I love
them. I love the way they look on everybody’s skin. It doesn’t matter if you
are black, white, Hispanic, Asian, or a mix, a tattoo will look awesome on you.
I have 5 tattoos on
various parts of my body, and all but one of my tattoos has a meaning. This was my first tattoo. I got it for my 20th birthday. It’s kind of hard to explain what it is, but the best way to explain is: it is the symbol from the books Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Count Olaf, the bad guy, is described with a tattoo of what looks like an eye on his left ankle. From afar, it looks like an eye. If you look closely, it is actually the letters V.F.D. and those letters come up throughout the entire series of books.
The reason I
got this tattoo is because I love books, and I liked the idea of getting
something that was important in a book series.
I would also love to get something from the Harry Potter series,
like the Deathly Hallows symbol!
This tattoo I
got randomly the same day I got my tongue pierced ( I can talk about my
piercings in my next blog post). This is the only tattoo that doesn’t have a
real meaning. After I got it I decided to add a meaning to it, but it wasn’t
the initial reason I got it. The meaning I put behind it was the bond I sort of
have with one of my sisters. She can be the biggest bitch and the most selfish
person, but we’re sisters no matter what.
This tattoo
is the biggest I have so far. It took almost three hours to complete, and by
the end I was in tears from the overworking of my skin, but it was well worth
it. I got it during Spring Break when I was in Florida. I had planned out this
tattoo for a while, and it wasn’t what I wanted originally, but it came out
wonderfully.
The flag is
the Costa Rican flag. It is half of my heritage, and I am so proud of where I
came from. I got that flag over the other flags of my ethnicities because I wanted
to honor my dad. We don’t have the best relationship, but he is my dad. The
other big part of the tattoo is the roses under the flag, which is the part
that honors my mom.
This is my
math tattoo. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. If you were to graph
this equation with a graphing calculator or a computer, it would graph a heart;
that’s why there is a heart underneath it. If you look closely, there is an
infinity symbol in the middle of the heart. That’s another tribute to math.
I love math,
there is no other way of putting it. i want to learn everything about it, even
though I know that is impossible. I don’t have the mastery of anything, and I really
wish I did, but I will continue to learn all I can.
This tattoo
is my most recent tattoo. I am a very superstitious person unfortunately. A few
things I believe in are karma, the zodiac (to an extent) and fate/destiny. I
was randomly reading on the website StumbleUpon about palm lines. Apparently one
of my lines shows that I am unhappy. So the website gave a suggestion.
It suggested putting
a Chinese symbol, the double happiness symbol, in as many places in my life as
possible. So I figured what better way to have the symbol around me all the
time than to put it on me permanently? The symbol is usually used for Chinese
New Year and Chinese weddings. (As a side note, I am not actually Chinese).
Now that we
have seen all of the tattoos I already have, I want to briefly talk about the
tattoos I still want.
Here is a quick
list, but I can always explain why I want each one if anyone cares:
1) Pocket watch with a chain
2) Cat/kitten
3) Lyrics to a song (Creep by Radiohead, Don’t You by Simple Minds, etc)
4) Something from the Harry Potter series
5) Fairy/Tinkerbell
This is
probably the longest post I’m ever going to write, but thank you for bearing
with me and reading to the end. I hope you enjoyed the pictures, and if you
have any questions, please leave a comment and I will answer them!
That’s it for
this post. Until next time- I’m Charlotte Carmichael and thanks for reading.
